Area Law Enforcement
Approximately 50 cars have been covered with what appears to be blood from a person in the German town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.
Automobiles, exterior walls and mailboxes were marked, in some cases with swastikas, they stated in a official communication.
Police state they were notified during the night on Wednesday night, when a resident observed that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored fluid.
The substance had been drawn in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they added.
Police then found many other smeared automobiles and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.
Police report early analysis suggest the fluid was likely blood from a person.
"Currently there is no lead as to its source; officials are currently not aware of any injuries in association with the occurrence," they added.
City officials announced they were working "to unravel the mystery" and have asked to the residents for details.
An important political figure stated the attack made him speechless and required to be addressed quickly.
"This event affects the core of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the far-right attack five years ago," he wrote on a platform, recalling the murder of nine people by a gunman targeting individuals of foreign heritage in 2020.
